Designlab Experience Offers a Preview of Future Saudi Developments at Cityscape 2024 in Riyadh
At Cityscape Global, the largest real estate event in the world taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, architectural firm Designlab Experience captivated attendees with two groundbreaking exhibits celebrating the region’s visionary approach to urban development.
Through their innovative designs for the Masar and Aldiyar Alarabia pavilions, the company presented a balanced integration of tradition and modernity, offering engaging experiences that highlighted their approach to architectural storytelling.
One of the multifaceted showcases brought to life the transformative Masar project, located in Mecca, embodying the essence of a vibrant urban boulevard. The pavilion’s design reflected the interconnected streets of the new development, creating a welcoming space where investors and visitors could explore the future of this ambitious plan. At its heart was a detailed scale model of the project, surrounded by canopies inspired by Masar’s iconic street shading structures. The space was enriched with natural elements, such as palm trees and biophilia, evoking the region’s beauty while immersing guests in the sensory essence of the project.
Cultural heritage played a central role in the design. Visitors could witness traditional embroidery techniques used in adorning the Kaaba, explore a souvenir shop, and enjoy mocktails and regional delicacies served at counters adorned with intricate patterns. The Investors’ Room provided an exclusive environment for stakeholders to network and discuss opportunities.
The Aldiyar Alarabia exhibit was another highlight of Designlab Experience’s contribution to Cityscape Global. Drawing inspiration from the fluidity of the real estate company’s logo, the stand featured a series of elegant parametric arches that guided visitors through a seamless, cinematic journey. Each arch was illuminated by embedded LED lights, accentuating the natural wood finishes and creating a sense of rhythm and harmony. Strategically placed touchpoints throughout the space narrated Aldiyar Alarabia’s values and vision, from authenticity and community to empowerment and well-being.
At the heart of the exhibit, a central plaza featured a dramatic fissured wall that served as the backdrop for a digital timeline of the firm’s milestones. Interactive displays invited guests to explore detailed project renderings, while a hospitality area offered traditional Arabic coffee and Saudi-inspired culinary delights. A VIP lounge provided an exclusive retreat for distinguished clients. Another focal point was a suspended art installation depicting a flock of flying birds crafted from washi paper, which symbolized the rock doves of Mecca. This ethereal artwork introduced a sense of movement and lightness, contrasting with the structural precision of the design.
Both exhibits reflected Designlab Experience’s approach to combining cultural authenticity with contemporary architectural design. Together, they offered a lens into Saudi Arabia’s evolving urban landscape, showcasing the country’s vision for its future while grounding it in a rich cultural context.
