Playing for Change Foundation’s 2024 Impact Awards Celebrate Musical Influence of Diplo, Ellie Goulding, and Andrea Bocelli
The Playing for Change Foundation (PFCF) held its 2024 Impact Awards at the Rubell Museum in Miami, recognizing the philanthropic efforts and musical influence of Diplo, Ellie Goulding, and Andrea Bocelli and his wife, Veronica. The event took place on Saturday, April 13, with an atmosphere charged with celebration and a commitment to change.
Diplo, a three-time Grammy winner, expressed his gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the power of music to transcend barriers and uplift communities. Ellie Goulding, also present at the ceremony, shared similar sentiments as she accepted her award in person. The Bocellis, unable to attend, were honored virtually.
The awards night featured performances from Young Musicians Unite—a partner program of PFCF—alongside DJ and producer Note Marcato, and Hip-Hop Kidz, who delighted the audience with a mashup of music from the honorees. The celebration continued into the night at Superblue Miami, with an afterparty presented in partnership with MGM+, where Diplo and Sofi Tukker performed live.
PFCF CEO Jake Groshong took the opportunity to highlight the foundation’s expansive reach, which includes initiatives in over 60 locations across 21 countries, including Mali, Morocco, Ghana, Rwanda, and several others across continents. These programs focus on empowering youth through music education, employing over 300 staff, teachers, and community leaders.
An online charity auction was also spotlighted during the evening, giving attendees and supporters an opportunity to further contribute to the foundation’s mission. The auction, which aims to raise funds for ongoing and new educational projects, is set to run through April 18.
